Upsite is a little utility
making possible to publish files on a server. But it should not be confused with a usual FTP-Client. Because of the PlugIn-Technology, it isn't interesting with Upsite, if it is the so named (and popular) FTP-protocol, HTTP-protocol or even the GOPHER-protocol. Yes, furthermore you can publish all on your own hard-disk or other mediums like zip to backup your data. You merely need the suitable Publishing-PlugIns (we call them Publishing-Worker) and it can go on!
Through the new developed
Update-function the Clever Update it is guaranteed, that only the files which are new or changed will published, not the whole volume of the site. To check the topical status it is not needed to be online! This step is not necessary because of the new technology. And you can also publish the site on further servers.
Upsite manages all files
and paths (short: Entries) in a so named Web. A Web simulates one server. You can say, that a Web presents one server inclusive its files. If you like to publish your Entries on further servers, than add new Webs. All Webs are joined together in a Project and have always the same content the site. Thats why, a Project presents one Site. When I add something new in my site (e.g. with a HTML-Editor or I create a new image), so it will be put in all Webs. So you can be sure, that on every server where your site should be published has the same volume every time.
The declaration of the files
which should be in your site and be published (html-, image-files, java-applets an so on) can be done in two ways: One possible is to add separately the files in the Web. The other, we recommend this, is to take-over a complete path (with its sub-dir's, when you like). This declared directory is the source of your site. Upsite calls this folder a 'Virtual Path'.
Is the volume of the Virtual Path changed
(you edited something
in your site), Upsite noticed this and likes to update these changed Entries. These files or paths are specially marked in Upsite, and when you press the up!-button and give Upsite the Login-information, they will be
updated on server.
